Who is eligible for the College JumpStart Scholarship?
To apply for the College JumpStart Scholarship you must meet the following requirements:
1) Current student (high school 10th-12th or college) or planning to enter college within the next 12 months
2) You are a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
3) You are currently attending or you are planning to attend an accredited two-year, four-year, community, vocational or trade school in the U.S. Online programs also qualify.
4) You must be committed to using education to better your life and that of your family and/or community.
When is the deadline?
There are four deadlines for applying each year:
Show Grit Scholarship: March 31
Gratitude Scholarship: June 30
Pay It Forward Scholarship: September 30
Love of Learning Scholarship: December 31
How do I apply?
If you meet all of our eligibility requirements you can submit an online application. We do not have nor accept paper applications or applications sent by mail.

What is the status of my application?
Due to the volume of applications that we receive, we are unable to provide individual responses to this question. If you are unsure if your application submitted, please submit it again. Judging typically takes 8-10 weeks after each deadline. Winners will be contacted by phone, mail, and email. Winners are announced here.
I received an error when I submitted my application. Can I resubmit it?
Yes, please resubmit your application. We will use either the latest application submitted or the most complete application submitted.
I am an international student. Am I eligible to apply?
Sorry, the scholarship is only open to U.S. citizens and legal residents.
I am a non-traditional student or I took a gap year. Am I eligible to apply?
Yes.
I am a DACA student. Am I eligible to apply?
Yes, if you are a legal resident.
I am a home school student. Am I eligible to apply?
Yes.
Can I print and mail the application?
Sorry, only the online application is accepted.
Can I submit additional materials with the application?
Sorry, we are unable to accept additional materials.
Is this scholarship based on financial need?
No, it is not.
Is this scholarship based on minority status?
No, it is not.
What do you look for when selecting the winners?
Winners are selected based on the quality of the personal statement.
How can the scholarship be used?
The scholarship may be used for tuition, fees, books, or room and board related to education at an institution of higher learning.
How do I volunteer to help?

Why did you start the College JumpStart Scholarship?
The idea for the College JumpStart Scholarship arose from one of our late-night conversations. We asked, “How can we help students in the future fulfill their dreams of going to college?” We believed that if we were willing to pay it forward by starting the scholarship program, others would too. Join us in supporting students who show a love of learning and perseverance.

It typically takes our judges 8-10 weeks to read and score all of the applications. Winners are announced here.
